Getting Started with EH Active & Strava

Getting started on Strava (free version)

  1. Download and install the Strava app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

  2. Once installed, open the app and create a free account using your email address, Google account or Apple ID.

  3. When prompted, allow location access so Strava can track your activities accurately.

  4. You do not need to sign up for a paid subscription. The free version is more than enough for tracking and sharing your exercise. If they suggest you need to sign up for an account just ignore the prompt.

Tracking your exercise

Using Strava Without a Smart Watch

  1. Open the Strava app before you start your activity.

  2. Tap the Record button.

  3. Choose your activity type, for example Walk, Run, Ride or Workout.

  4. Press Start when you begin.

  5. When you finish, tap Stop and then Save.

  6. Add a title or short note if you like, then save the activity.
Your activity will now appear in your Strava feed and be visible to people you follow, depending on your privacy settings.

Syncing your Smart Watch with Strava

If you use a smart watch or fitness tracker, you can sync it with Strava so your activities upload automatically.

General steps (most watches)

  1. Make sure you have the watch’s official app installed on your phone (for example Garmin Connect, Apple Health or Fitbit).

  2. Log in to your watch app and check that your watch is syncing correctly with your phone.

  3. Open the Strava app.

  4. Go to Settings → Applications, Services, or Connected Apps (wording may vary).

  5. Select your watch brand and follow the prompts to connect your account.

  6. Once connected, any activity you record on your watch will automatically sync to Strava.

Popular watch integrations

Garmin
Activities recorded on your Garmin watch sync via the Garmin Connect app once your accounts are linked.

Apple Watch
Record activities using the Apple Watch workout app. These sync to Strava through Apple Health once permissions are enabled.

Fitbit
Activities recorded on your Fitbit sync via the Fitbit app after connecting it to Strava.

After syncing

You do not need to press Record in Strava if you are using your watch. Just start and finish the activity on your watch as normal. Once it syncs, it will appear automatically in your Strava feed and in the EH Active club.

Joining the EH Active Club on Strava

Through Strava:

  1. Open the Strava app.

  2. Tap the Groups or Clubs section (usually found in the bottom navigation menu).

  3. Search for “EH Active”

  4. Select the EH Active club from the results.

  5. Tap Join Club.
Once joined, activities you record will automatically show up in the club feed, helping build a shared sense of momentum and encouragement.

Using the Direct Link:

You can join the EH Active club directly using the club link, even if you are new to Strava.

  1. Make sure you are logged in to your Strava account on your phone or web browser.

  2. Open this link: https://www.strava.com/clubs/ehactive

  3. You will be taken to the EH Active club page.

  4. Click or tap Join Club.

  5. Once joined, any activities you record (depending on your privacy settings) will appear in the EH Active club feed.

If the link opens in a browser and not the app, that is fine. As long as you are logged in, the club will still be added to your Strava account and will appear in the app afterwards.

Tip: If the link does not work immediately, copy and paste it into your browser, or search for “EH Active” in the Clubs section inside the Strava app.

Engaging with other EH Active members

Following and interacting with others is a big part of the Strava experience.

  1. Open the EH Active club page to see recent activities from members.

  2. Tap on a member’s name or profile photo to view their profile.

  3. Tap Follow to follow them on Strava.

  4. You can encourage others by giving Kudos on their activities or leaving a short supportive comment.

  5. When others follow you back, your activities will appear in each other’s feeds, helping create connection and accountability.

  6. You can also post updates in the EH Active Club

  7. Helpful tips

  • Keep your phone charged before activities so tracking does not cut out.

  • You can adjust privacy settings in the app if you prefer to limit who sees your activities.

  • Consistency matters more than distance or pace. Even short walks count.
